Ron, I know you have a lot of info on my Mark IA's original 260 motor, but am not sure it includes the timing cover part number. Just in case it does not, it is also a B19KC motor with the C4AE 6059B cover. It has 65 cast in the circle with the dots around the number.

Vin is ...1447. I am pretty sure you have the info on the aluminum tag on the intake manifold. Anyway, that has 260 66 9 Ford oval logo on the top line and 5 - K 510 - J on the second line in case that is helpful to the current discussion.

Timing cover history

1962- 1963 C2OE-6059D non-emissions model with Oil fill tube

1964 C3OE-6059B - after May 1964 has a soft plug in the oil filler hole
C4AE-6059B - oil filler hole area is cast closed
C4OE-6059A - Oil filler hole casting area eliminated

Information from Bob Mannel's Book - Mustang and Ford Small Block V8

The oil filler tube configuration was never used on the Tiger engines.

Tiger engines started in the 1964 Ford model year. I don't
specifically know what the first casting number that was used on the Tiger
engines but it would have a soft plug. Bob also mentions in his book that
Ford used all 3 configurations of the timing cover in 1964; leading to
confusion by hobbyists.

I believe Ford stock piled parts for the Tiger engine builds. I also
believe Ford depleted old stock in the Tiger engine builds. My F21KA engine
has a C4OE-A timing cover and I know of a B19KC engine that has the C4AE-B
timing cover.
That was a surprise to me and that is why I believe Ford was using up old
stock on the Tiger engines. This is why I stated I see no reason not to use
the timing cover you have now.

Hey, guys:

Does anyone out there have a nice stock Tiger timing cover that they would
part with? The 260 I'm building for my car has the earlier timing cover on
it with the oil filler neck boss cast into it and blocked off with a soft
plug. I, of course, need the timing cover without the filler neck
embossment on it. I'm rapidly approacing the point to where I'm going to
need the cover. Can anybody help out?

Thanks much,
