Friends, thanks again for your thoughts last week on the hardtop issue. I
did buy that top and brought it home. its definately gonna need some metal
work, but i explored the construction and am confident its something i can
manage. i wont be starting on it immediately, the whole tiger is early in
its resto...but i have it for when i really get deep into the project.

On another note, if there is any interest, i found this top, sitting on top
of a series III Alpine GT. ( its likely/ possible this is the original top
to that car, and yes, I divorced the two for my own benefit) but the car is
still available from the same seller, here in central oklahoma. I have
about 20 pics of the little car but the basic description is that it is an
original GT Alpine, appears to have a series V motor and possible
transmission in it. transmission is a manual. Certainly has the side draft
carbs, alternator on it. Serial B9204547 GT LRX, color code 68 which is a
metallic yellow gold (?) according to quick research. This color combo is
the only color to have black piping on black vinyl interior, if i
understand correctly, all other interior colors would have had contrasting
piping. anyway, the car is now resprayed carnival looking red, and the
paint is about a 15 foot quality job. bubbling in a couple places.

Car doesnt appear to have any rust that i can find. fairly new interior
kit, dusty but in good shape. All other part of the car appears to be
original, so not a restoration as much as a repaint and new GT interior
and wood dash. has some original guages, some not original. lower
radiator support has been cut, lower valance removed but hard to tell at
first. looks like they were gonna replace it and never did, but the
bumpers are on it and its hard to see it missing. trim on it is pretty
good. body on it appears VERY straight. no rust or damage that i could
find, anywhere, but there were some areas i couldnt see. didnt empty the
trunk. floor boards were solid from above the carpet, and feeling around
below from the outside.

looks like it might just clean up and drive. car is complete. he wanted 2
grand for the whole car. i bought the top for 400 bucks, he said would take
1600 for the car. it does NOT have the overdrive transmission. the radiator
and piece from the lower core support is in the trunk. it also comes with a
soft top, and frame...although being a GT there are not provisions to mount
it..so it appears that the previous owner bought the car, was in the
process of a simple rebuild, collected parts he thought were missing...not
knowing it should even be included. also comes with a nice tonneau cover. (
is that what its called? covers the cockpit, zipper down the middle).

i have no ties to the seller except i told him i would spread the word, so
here it is. car is located in shawnee oklahoma. has been for sale for
several weeks, but he doesnt appear to want to come off the 1600 bucks yet.

Here is a link to the car, and as i mentioned i have 20 or so detailed
photos i can send to anyone interested.

I am just the messenger. The car is about an hour away from me so i wont be
going back, any reason, but id be happy to share any additional thoughts
with anyone who might be interested in the car. sellers phone number is
405-203-1002, his name is Bill. He's older than the hills so speak up and
he isnt a sunbeam guy, he is a car salesman. he wont know much about it,
and he doesnt know that its a GT...not sure he cares or knows the
difference. i wouldnt mention that its a GT. ;)
