[Tigers] Possible solution to servo issue - Grease

Here in the land of High Tech manufacturing we use several different silicon
lubes for high vacuum system maintenance. A good basic silicon grease is
Novagard G661, it's cheap and available from Amazon. It works on all sorts of
rubber and plastic and is water and chemical resistant. Will it resist
breakdown in brake fluid? Don't know, but I'll bet it would keep the leather
diaphragm in your servo functioning since it doesn't dry out or outgas.

Hi Roland,
Vacuum Seal Lubricant used to come in the servo rebuild kit.
The problem I had was it was mostly dried up and they didn't provide nearly
enough.
It seemed to be some kind of black graphite grease and what's important is
that it doesn't attack the leather seal, and maybe the foam (plastic?) seal
tensioner(?).
Some modern available substitute WOULD probably be the holy grail...
But too, just doing away with the servo and going to a tandem master
is looking pretty promising... Or go dual cylinders like a Cobra!! Of
course that takes a real man to push the extra effort required ;-)

An update to my earlier post.

I was pretty sure I still had a some of the red grease stashed away somewhere
in my garage, so I took a look and found what looked like three identical
little packets of this stuff. But on closer inspection, one was different.
Two were labeled Lucas Rubber Grease (red) and one was labeled Lockheed Vacuum
Seal Lubricant. Perhaps the Lockheed lubricant would be appropriate for the
brake servo?

I don't know why I had the Lockheed stuff, since I don't have a brake servo.
I'm guessing it was either mixed in with the Lucas rubber grease or I grabbed
it by accident.

Roland
