[Tigers] Air cleaner & horsepower

There are two things that affect the performance of the air cleaner: first,
that the element is only 1.5 inch high, and that limits the amount of airflow
that the filter can sustain (although that may still be more than adequate for
most performance levels); second, that the air has to turn a very sharp corner
from the filter plenum to the throat of the carburetor. The choke air horn
also restricts the airflow. There was a company that made an airflow deflector
that was supposed to reduce the loss due to the sharp corner - I forget the
name, but IIRC Tim Ronak dyno tested it.

I am running a 2 inch tall K&N element in my factory air cleaner, on an F4B
manifold, and it seems to clear the hood. Other combinations are taller or
tilt the carb differently and this causes the air cleaner to hit the hood...
YMMV.

Cheers,
Theo
