They ALL got 289's, when they became available from production."
 
Maybe for the Shelby Mustang and Cobra.  Ford supplied 289s to Rootes only
when the original contract for 260s ended.   Then Ford supplied the 289 to
Rootes.  289s were in production long before Rootes switched to 289s for the
MKII.
