just to add to Tom's description...(and this is one of those rare occasions where I get to chime in with hopefully an intelligent contribution) my "Tiger" was sold in Europe and not for export ( to the u.s.) and there it was classified as an Alpine 260, so in fact, it had some alpine hardware, namely some lens changes and alpine specific badging...but ironically, it came with a wood dash. My understanding is that it didn't say Tiger on it at all. But I will still call it a Tiger so I can fit in with the cool crowd...  ;)

But, to answer the question of, "So some tigers actually came with Alpine 
hardware?."  Yes, doors, hoods, glass (many more etc's).  It was only the 
Tiger specific parts that make a Tiger a real Tiger.  And some of those are 
welded into the body/frame rather than bolt on parts.  What makes a Tiger a 
Tiger is not the sum total of the parts one may piece together, but rather 
did the car roll off the Jensen assembly line as a Tiger.
