If Lucas made guns there could be no wars.

I bought a sailboat several years ago. When the electric anchor windlass stopped working I went below to remove it and find a replacement. I was surprised to find it was a Lucas motor. How did a Lucas motor end up on a sailboat manufactured in 1989 in California ?
