Tom and others who have responded...thank you.  A few people  now have 
mentioned that the fan should be mounted to the body works rather than  to the 
radiator. This makes the situation so much easier.  When the  fan is mounted then 
the radiator can be slipped in with no problem.  I am  going to use the 
existing stock fan so this will just be for additional cooling  if the need ever 
arises.
