Best to error on the safe side. Put in a couple of screws.
Look for rust caused by condensation at the bottom of the
windshield. I've heard of frames crumbling when the
windshield is removed. Rustproof and/or rust convert
as best as you can.

I'm nearly finished stripping everything off Tigger prior to his date with
the
paint shop. My question concerns the windshield frame. The rearview mirror
and top latches screw into floating pieces inside the frame. Can these
pieces
move laterally enough to cause a problem? Do I need to keep bolts in them to
keep them in position? Or is there movement limited enough to stay put?
I'd
rather not learn the hard way. Thanks.
