[Tigers] 347 stroker with overdrive

I'm curious...speaking to an engine building company about a 347  build-up. 
They say that they won't guarantee their engines if anyone runs a  vacuum 
adavance on them.  Say that they've had too many problems with  something going 
wrong and the engine over-advancing and damage.
The questions are:  what do you think of their theory on this  point and 
secondly what might someone expect from a 347 stroker  without (or with ) vacuum 
using a 5 speed overdrive?
