TTT,

That certainly answers my question and I appreciate your input. I am not too 
familiar with early Alpines and didn't realise they had mirrors with no 
covering.

Perhaps I will have a go at selling it in order to raise a down payment on a 
rebuilt covered one for my Tiger.
