Draw a pattern of the door glass before you remove the lower channel. The  
bottom will be straight across from back to front.  Put the glass on a work  
bench covered with carpet or cardboard to protect it from breaking on a hard  
surface. Hold the glass lower sash channel up, tap with hammer (like your  
putting it on)this will help loosen 40 years of rust and dirt. Then lay the  glass 
flat and drive the sash off with a suitable tool. We use a brick wedge and  
hammer with the wedge ground flat so it will just catch the channel. Or  take it 
to an auto glass shop and they can pull it for you. Clean it up and  paint it 
and you will be good for another 40 years. Be sure to grease the roller  
channel. HTH
