In the great state of Ohio, any out of state vehicle must be inspected
by the Ohio State Patrol. I recently bought another Norton from Penn.
and had to haul it over to the inspection station. It was somewhat
comical to observe the 20-something trooper try to figure out where the
VIN plate was located, and the fact that it only had six numbers
befuddled him until I pointed out the fact that the bike was from the
'60's. I doubt this lad would have recognized a VIN tag re-rivet.

The state policeman stated that the vin tag was correct, the rivets were
correct, and that the DMV inspector was full of s--t as usual.
However,

Now that has got to be one sharp state policeman to recognize  original
"rivets" from each manufacturer.
