I have a 2.88 posi in my MKII so it should fit. If your engine has a
radical cam large valves and ports in the heads, go with the 3.07 but if it
is close to stock or you expect it to be a bit "torquey", go with the 2.88.
Remember that the tires are a lot smaller in diameter on Tigers than on
others. If you compare a 25 inch tire at 2.88 to a 27 on a different car
your gear ratio will have to be a 3.10 to have the same RPM at the same
speed. However I think that stock MKII's have a 2.95 first if I remember
correctly and it wouldn't hurt to be a little lower so I would be inclined
to go with the 3.07 A 2.88 with .8 overdrive is a final drive of 2.30 and
3.07 is 2.45. Those are both pretty high if your engine needs higher RPM to
run right.-- Bill --
Hey,
I am going to put a posi in my currently stock rear end. I'll have a
T-5 with 2.95 1st and .8 overdrive. I have a 3.07 sitting on the shelf
besides the 2.88 that's in the car. I'm inclined to use the 2.88, but
vaguely remember a problem mentioned here and elsewhere about the mounting
bolts not working with the posi. I searched TU site and couldn't find the
reference. Could someone refresh my memory. What do I need to do to make
this work.
Seems like I remember the 3.07 not having this problem. Anyone in
favor of the final ratios I'd end up with using that? Thanks!!
