<div>The attached are the accumulated results to date after Pittsburgh Grand Prix.  This was a great turnout of Spridgets with some new racers.  We added this race to our SMRS schedule for a best 2 out of 4 race series for the first time.  I would like to Congratulate Mark Maehling for his vision of making this happen and setting up a Spridget Paddock that was not easy to do in a Park setting along with honoring a friend and local legend Donna Mae Mims.  I also appreciate the support that Dave Kessinger provided and the nice write up provided about SMRS.  I also understand that Manley Ford had some very positive things to say at the Donna Mae Mims award ceremony about SMRS.</div>

<div>Grattan is turning out well with up to 35 Racing Spridgets expected (making it our second largest gathering of Spridgets ever!).  We have the same Spridget Paddock space we had last year with more cars, which is going to make it difficult to squeeze everyone in.  The paddock opens at 9AM.  I will do my best to be there when they open.  </div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Great turn out of 948 Bug Eyes in 2E with 6 planned.  We have our typical fun planned off and on the track with the Grattan
Sprite Midget Race Series Finale.  This
year’s awards will be navy blue baseball caps with SMRS logo on front and 1^st,
2^nd & 3^rd on back for the top 3 in each of our 8
classes. You need to have raced in 2 of the 4 available races to qualify (Gman,
Blackhawk, Pittsburgh & Grattan).  We
will be selecting another worthy racer for the Gary Kropf Spirit Award and the Jim
Donato Sprite Midget Most Respected Driver Award.  To reinforce the need for all of us to be
predictable, observant, vintage sports car drivers.  I will be providing a ballot that defines the
criteria for both of these awards with the lucky honoree recognized Sunday.   I will bring along the cow bell that I will
ring 15 minutes before any SMRS announcements. 
We are a large group and it takes a lot of time walking around to inform
everyone that we are getting together only to have those that said they were
going to be there not show up, so please listen for the cow bell!<o:p></o:p></div>



<div class="MsoNormal">SMRS has done a great job of being Safe Vintage Racers at
Gingerman and Blackhawk and I assume Pittsburgh, we need to continue that value at Grattan as well!<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Our Group 2 (Vintage Production Sports Cars 1950-1963) will
be Group C for this race, which should get us off the track a little earlier in each
session.  We can expect a similar
experience to last year with lots of track time (10 race sessions if you
include Enduro and Spridget Series Race), as they say bring extra fuel!  We will have our traditional Saturday and
Sunday Sprite Midget Luncheons with our favorite Sports Car food group “Brats” (It
is always appreciated if you can get pre cooked brats or boil prior to showing
up so they can brown on the grill more quickly and reduce the amount of grease
fires we have).  It is greatly
appreciated when others can assist with grilling responsibilities knowing some
of us will be up to our elbows in grease (not pork, but petroleum) trying to
make the next session.  Side dishes are
always appreciated as well.  I will
provide condiments, hot grill, plates, napkins & plastic ware.  Please bring enough food for you and your
crew plus 30% for friends, workers and others that we will invite to join us. The
Cape Of Good Hope Portable British Pub will be brought out Friday Evening for
our toasting.   The Spridget Race moved to the last race on
Saturday this year.  We will have the
award ceremony on Sunday.  Points for
Grattan sessions are Friday 1^st Qualification (fastest time per
class), 1^st Sprint Race Saturday (durability) and Saturday Smidget Race
(position). worthy charity. If you have an extra seat in your car consider
providing rides on Sunday for Wounded Warriors Charity Ride.<o:p></o:p></div>



<div class="MsoNormal">I will try my best to get there before 10AM and stake out
our typical area South down the hill from the Paved Paddock and just East of
Toilet Bowl Turn where we usually gather. 
We can expect Group 2 to be crowded again making it more important than
ever to keep a cool head and keep the Vintage Spirit so we can all enjoy a
great weekend of fun!!<o:p></o:p></div>



<div class="MsoNormal">If you are in possession of the Special Kropf Piston Spirit
Award and or the Donato Most Respected Driver Award please bring those with you
so it can be provided in our award ceremony to the new awardees.<o:p></o:p></div>

last year in larger sizes only.  Along
with past year stickers as our award fund raiser.<o:p></o:p></div>
