I have expanded the email distribution for the 60th
and have copied you thinking it would be a good exposure of what a Sprite
Midget Race Series Weekend is like. We
will have lots of fun and the 60th Spridget Reunion with VSCDA’s
ELVF as well.

We have lots of fun planned off and on the track Grattan
Sprite Midget Finale with a little different spin on the awards (Thanks to
Erick Zanner’s JDM contribution and Jeff Carlos leading the charge on awards)
for all that have competed in 2 of the 3 designated tracks (Gman, Blackhawk
& Grattan). We will be selecting
another worthy racer for the Gary Kropf Spirit Award and the Jim Donato Sprite
Midget Most Respected Driver Award. To
reinforce the need for all of us to be predictable, observant, vintage sports
car drivers. I will be providing a
ballot that defines the criteria for both of these awards with the lucky
honoree recognized this Sunday.

Thursday Registration maybe in a little different
location. The track is used by another
group and we will not be allowed in Paddock until 6PM. There will be lots of 60th
Spridget Regalia available through registration.

Friday is the Paddock Crawl, which has added to the fun of
socializing with other racers that we may not be familiar with and making new
friends in a sport we all enjoy. The crawl
starts with appetizers at one area including Pop, Wine and Micro Brewed Beer (I
think Perrin maybe the sponsor again this year, which is another great Grand
Rapids brewery). They should end up in
our Smidget Compound for submarine type sandwiches where we will pull our cars
out from the awnings to be displayed, followed by desert in another area. The Cape Of Good Hope will be open for
business as well with a review of upcoming weekend agenda and any discussions
to improve our series and highlights of the ELVF 60th Anniversary of
Spridgets. We will be toasting her
Majesty The Queen and one of our heroes.

I count 15 Spridgets Racing with some new names and a couple
others expected to join.

We will be the second group out, which is always nice. We can expect a similar experience to last
year with lots of track time (minimum of 3 track sessions per day including 4
on Friday if you do the Wounded Warrior Enduro, as they say bring extra
fuel! We will have our traditional Saturday
and Sunday Sprite Midget Luncheons with our favorite Sports Car food group
“Brats” (It is always appreciated if you can get pre cooked brats or boil prior
to showing up so they can brown on the grill more quickly and reduce the amount
of grease fires we have). It is greatly
appreciated when others can assist with grilling responsibilities knowing some
of us will be up to our elbows in grease trying to make the next session. Side dishes are always appreciated as well. I will provide condiments, plates, napkins
& plastic ware. Please bring enough
food for you and your crew plus 30% for friends, workers and others that we
will invite to join us. The Cape Of Good Hope Portable British Pub will be
brought out Friday and Saturday Evening for our toasting. Sunday morning is tentatively scheduled for
our Exclusive Sprite Midget Race. During
lunch on Sunday we will have our award ceremony. Points for Grattan sessions are Friday 1st
Qualification (durability), 1st Sprint Race (durability) and Sunday
Smidget Race (Wow that is a tongue twister).

I would like to encourage everyone to sign up for the
Wounded Warrior Enduro you don’t have to stay out for the whole time. It is a good time to sort out problems if
needed (not that that would ever happen).
Part of your fee will go to this very worthy charity. If you have an
extra seat in your car consider providing rides on Sunday for Wounded Warriors
Charity Ride.

I am anticipating a strong presence of Sprites and Midgets
and hoping to repeat last year’s numbers.
I am also planning on getting in early to stake out our typical area
South down the hill from the Paved Paddock and just East of Toilet Bowl Turn
where we usually gather. We will attempt
to have a continuous canopy on both sides with enclosed trailers parallel to
road so we can squeeze as many altogether as we can. If you have a larger canopy plan on inviting
someone to share your other slot. We can
expect Group 2 to be crowded again making it more important than ever to keep a
cool head and keep the Vintage Spirit so we can all enjoy a great weekend of
fun!!
