I run silicone fluid in the race cars and all my restorations.
It took over 20 years for my bugeye to get a damp rear wheel cylinder with silicone fluid. Before that my bugeye had hydraulic failures of one type or another about every 10 months to a year!
And! Upon inspection of the failed wheel cylinder, the bore was perfect, the seal developed a tiny scratch in it's seal area.
And YES IF YOU CHANGE FROM DOT3 TO SILICONE a complete rebuild is 100% recommended. DOT 3 swells seals slightly snd changing from DOT3 to silicone Will result in a leak / failure somewhere.
