I have gone through a number of coils in the past few years. They
may have been faulty but........

Reading the Lucas repair manual carefully, I came across this
"Test 6. Voltage at "-" Terminal of Coil............4. A
high resistance in circuit from the coil to the CB on the
distributor."

1. Manual was published in 1995 and is for negative earth cars,
my car is positive earth.

2. "CB" is not used on modern coils, they are "-" & "+".
When I connected my coil up "CB" = "+".

This is where my question comes in. "CB" that was "+" in 1959 is
now shown in 1995 as "-". (Logical as the cars are now negative
earth)

Does it makes a difference? Were coils designed for positive
earth? Am I therefore running the coil backwards as I am using a
coil designed for negative earth?

Cheers,

PS: Standard Intermotor coils, yes I am aware of the Lucas Sport
coil problem, and I believe Lucas/Intermotor may have had an issue
(Coils were replaced over a 5 year period, so I would think I
avoided the 'bad batch" if such existed).
