The centre metal of the clutch plate was painted and after a few hours and an overnight think found paint in the splines that stopped things sliding together. After this, I now try a 20 sec 'dry run' with the plate over the g'box input shaft. Over the years this has thrown up a couple of hiccups preventing future smooth operation.</span></div><div dir="ltr" id="yiv6038360033yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1463556002640_4793">I now use a dummy shaft for alignment. Even used a 'home made' wooden dowel that will just fit the flywheel with a bit of plastic from an overflow pipe round it for the plate. It solves this type of problem for the infrequent mechanic. </div><div dir="ltr" id="yiv6038360033yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1463556002640_4793">If you can beg, borrow or buy a Sykes-Pickavant set it will fit most RWD motors.
