<div> As I said, the next day the car ran normal. Go figure. The vacuum advance line was still intact. Everything is mounted tightly. You tell me why it decided to do this just one time. My only other concern is constant blue smoke from the tail pipe on a relatively new engine. Have to find out if is rings or valve guide seals. Gerard built the short block and knowing his meticulous building skill, I am leaning towards the valve seals/guides. </div><div> Why couldn't I be into 240 Z cars or Porsche instead of these quirky loveable Brit cars?</div><div>Mike MacLean</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div id="composer_signature"><div style="font-size:85%;color:#575757">Sent via the Samsung GALAXY S® 5, an AT&T 4G LTE smartphone</div></div><br><br>-------- Original message --------<br>From: David Ambrose via Spridgets <spridgets@autox.team.net> <br>Date: 10/25/2015 01:08 (GMT-08:00) <br>To: spridgets@autox.team.net <br>Subject: Re: [Spridgets] Won't Idle <br><br>

The facet pumps give a constant tap tap tap when running
regardless of whether they've got fuel or not. It's pretty
annoying especially if you solid mounted the pump. I'm thinking
about going back to an SU pump for this reason. Newer fuel hose is
formulated to resist the ethanol in the gas. <br>
<br>
The first thing I'd look for is a vacuum line that's come loose;
PCV valve and distributor vacuum advance. <br>

the Bugeye out to run an errand tonight. Could not get it to

recently had a problem with the ethanol in the gas plugging up
the fuel system after leaving it sit in the garage for a few
months without starting it. I installed a new Facet fuel
pump, but I can hear the new pump going constantly behind me
like the tank is almost empty, but according to the fuel gauge
it had at least a 1/4 tank left. As long as I kept my foot in
it and did not stop anywhere, it ran like a scalded cat. That
new 1275 that I installed a few thousand miles ago is finally
breaking in. I was going to replace the fuel tank. (I have a
new one ready to paint and install), but I got it running by
draining the old ethanol laced gas and filling the tank with
100 octane ethanol free gas. I thought I cleaned the fuel
system out of the ethanol. It ran great for a while. It did
die a couple of times, but started right up again and would
idle, now I have to keep revving the throttle at the stop
light to keep it running. I hate this Kalifornia gas.</div>
