<DIV>I rebuilt a Lucas ACR alternator with a new slip ring, diode pack etc and it
was never that fantastic. I figure that over time unless the windings are
replaced in the alternator the output wouldn't match a new one. It' also
the case that reconditioned can sometimes mean a fresh coat of paint to some
companies. At Sprite Rush 98 (?) when Frank Clarici had the Green Sprite
it had a really neat small alternator on it. Back in the UK I sourced
something similar because it weighed less and looked better than the Lucas
ACR.</DIV>

They fail slowly. Gradually requiring more and more rpms before they
