Seriously, I've never seen this before so I can only suggest in the dark. ?If others have come across it please shout out..... ? * The inside of the thermostat housing should not be scored by the top of the thermostat, there should be a clearance. ?This may suggest that one or the other is the wrong English part that may look as if it is the right one, but it was made for something else and just looks as if it fits. ? * Could it be the upper housing (the bit you are going to weld) and/or the bottom have been filed or smoothed down at their joining surfaces (perhaps for a closer fit) and this brought the top of the upper housing down onto the thermostat? ? * Is the cut-out groove that seats the thermostat clear ? ? I buy oil filters at Walmart because of the low price. I use Mobil 1 oil filters on my race Bugeye and at Walmart they are $11 and change which is about $5 less than the big box auto parts stores. I went to Walmart and bought two filters. Later that day I went out to the garage to change the oil on the Bugeye and when I opened the filter box I found a Walmart brand oil filter in a Mobil 1 box. Some shithead had switched boxes and bought a Mobil 1 filter for the $4.50 price of a Walmart filter. Walmart made it right, but it meant another trip to the store and going to the service desk, etc. I always open the box and look before checking out now. I waited a while and looked around the store expecting to see a keen shop assistant heading in the direction of both myself and the checkout. Unfortunately, I couldn?t see any assistants walking in my direction but did see a couple of them talking to each other. They didn?t see me on the other side of the store or if they did, it made no difference to them. I?m not always the most patient of people and I got fed up of waiting for them. Unfortunately, I recall that I really did need what I?d planned to purchase. So, in a moment of inspiration I leaned over the counter and moved the microphone for the store?s public-address system near enough for me to speak into. I found the switch to press when talking and calmly made the following announcement: Customer service assistant to the checkout please?, twice. I then returned the microphone to its original position and waited. Quite soon a young and bemused looking Halfords employee arrived at the checkout. She politely took my credit card for the transaction and while she did so Faye kept squeezing my hand. Faye squeezing my hand was her way of sending me a very important ?message? when she didn?t want to speak. With my transaction complete I left the store. As soon as we were outside Faye, squeezed my hand again while trying to drag me up the road. I laughed. She told me to hurry up and I asked her what the rush was. She told me that we needed to get a move on before the police arrived. I laughed again and asked why the police would come and she told it was because I shouldn?t have touched the microphone and made the announcement. I laughed even harder but she didn?t relax until we were well out of sight of the store. She remembers this to this day, and recalls how the customer behind us also laughed when I made the announcement. Finally, I?m pleased to say that I never needed to make a similar announcement since. Especially if your one of the biggest like Walmart. With many retailers being closed during Covid, Walmart was open because they had food. The handwriting was on the wall. They were going to do good. Plus their online business was picking up. With the 3 for 1 stock split it was time to buy! If you did you would be up around $48 a share now! You?d be buying Mobil One for free for a long time and nobody sells it cheaper than them. Retail is a tough business these days with prices and thieves! But few companies have the buying power they do , tariffs or not. Can?t say I?ve had the same problem?s as others and I do like the stock still going up. Just my 2 cents worth.
