Interesting setup Nelson. I have glued lexan/plexyglass terrariums with my
students for as long as I've been teaching and the adhesive works great.
However your handles look very sharp and sporting unique. Please update
with a completed photo.

Speaking about our plexyglass replacement for our side screens. Our dear
friend Frank Clarici popped mine in seconds after I cut them by hand and
sanded but just couldn't get them in. He was a true master and I only wish
I had met him sooner as well as he lived longer of course. His
encouragement to instill confidence in each and everyone of us will live
throughout our lives and hopefully we all  pass it to the next generation
as kindly as he did.

Hi All!

I have a 1960 with the original 948. I am working to get it up to speed cosmetically under the bonnet. Can anyone tell me what color the exhaust manifold would have been from the factory? I suspect it may have been green, same as the engine, but it seems to make little sense to re-do it that way since it will not hold up. Any info, thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I believe the original color of the exhaust manifold is cast iron.  No paint.

You can't make paint stick to a cast iron exhaust manifold. They were always a light rust colour. You can have them ceramic coated in satin black though. That looks good. You can also spray them with Graphite lube spray and wipe it with a rag. That gives a clean gray finish that;s easy to touch up if you ever need to.

sprayed on melted aluminum, it gave it a rough texture but it lasted 
decades and still looked good when I sold the car.? Don't know where to 
get that done now, or even if it still done.

?Steve: The AH Concours Registry Guide (2006), p. 4, says the engines were painted as an assembly: intake and exhaust manifolds included. I think you might have a copy of that. The Lone StarSprite & Midget owners group guide (1988) says the manifold was ?probably? painted engine green but the paint burned off. Of course you had to be willing to drive the car for that to happen. Horler is silent on the matter, but most of the engines shown are the wrong color anyway. The Midget has a little maybe overspray on the intake, but the exhaust manifold is natural. There is a comment somewhere that what got painted with the block depended on when it was assembled and by whom. Eastwood has a pretty good manifold paint as well as the rub-on stuff. I fretted over the engine paint question for years, but never got a good answer. Maybe Bobbie would remember. So much trivia. Glad to see the Bug got a good home. Still hoping to find a nut like us to take over the Midget.

Brief Summary for me is to be there: Thursday April 28 around noon to stake out Spridget Paddock, Fri for driver school, Saturday is practice, qualifiying and races, Sunday is Feature Races along with the exclusive Spridget Racce.? Don't for get to register on or before April 19 Tuesday to get your early discount.

Back in the day it was common practice to take an oily rag and wipe down exhaust parts while hot.  It smoked and smelled but after a few wipe downs you had an almost blued exhaust and no rust.

Do any members of the Listerati know what is happening with APT?  I placed
an order on the 27th of March but have not  rreceived it yet and my
calls/emails are unanswered.  I know David. had some kind of ufgent
personal business but I was expecting things to be returning to normal
around the middle of March.  I have done business with APT in the past and
been very pleased with the service, so I am concerned.
