[Spridgets] Fwd: Grattan Update SMRS

Spridget Peoples,
I just wanted to provide an overview of our upcoming 10th Year of Sprite Midget Race Series (SMRS and end of season awards at Grattan this upcoming weekend.  We are going to have a great time on and off the track as usual.  This event is potentially the largest that VSCDA has had at Grattan.  It is also our largest SMRS turn out of 25 plus Spridgets Racing exceeding the previous 23 high during the MG event that gave us a windfall of Midgets.  In addition we have added a Street and Race Spridget Car Show Saturday along with a special street Spridget parade lap prior to exclusive Spridget Race on Saturday evening.  Parking this many race cars in our traditional Spridget Compound was not possible.  I issued a map of the Spridget Compound and race cars that will be parked in this area recently.  If you are not on that map then you will be located in a parking place by Kathy Newton.  Please thank her for the tough job she has of fitting everyone in.  I know this is not what we have traditionally experienced for some, but the growth of this event did not allow for all of us to be in the Spridget Compoound.   I would like to encourage everyone to come down to the Spridget Compound at the end of each Day where we have special celebrations planned:    - Friday evening we will open up the Cape of Good Hope Pub with recognition of our Healey Heroes and presentation by Steve Coleman on their Historic Sprite Prototypes    - Saturday evening Cape Of Good Hope again with Street and Race Spridget Car Show results along with Spridget Race 1st place results per class announced
    - Sunday Lunch at Cape Of Good Hope we will announce end of season awards and special awards (at this time I have not received the physical awards, but we will find away to distribute if they do not arrive in time)

We are going to have lots of cars on the track for Group 2 and also in the Exclusive Sprite Midget Race.  Please keep the Vintage Spirit in mind and leave the Red Mist out!  I will have ballots for our special awards that will need to be completed by Saturday night.  The Jim Donato "Most Respected Driver Award" is the attitude we should carry out on the race track, which are identified below: a.      Criteria: A driver that exemplifies the meaningof a Vintage Sports Car Driver includes: Predictable: Stayson racing line and points racers by when being passed or when passing.  Makes sure that over taking driver knows ofhis presence when they are about to be passed and allows room and goodjudgement. Confident &Observant: Uses mirrors and is aware of others racing near them. Respectful: Confirmsthat their race car is mechanically sound and will not cause others to beinjured from improper maintenance.  Cansit down with other competitors and enjoy their company after any session.  Objective: open toother’s comments, Drives Defensively, adjusts for conditions safely regardlessof other driver’s interaction.
