I discovered Steve Winword's earlier work including his time with Blind Faith. So, after working what tracks I wanted (Can't find my way home, and John Barleycorn, etc) I purchased some CDs. The thing is though is that my preferred recording of 'Can't find my way home' is the Hyde Park Concert live recording (which is on Youtube) not the more mellow instrumental recording on the album. I've done some googling and it seems there are various sites that I might be able to get FLAC recording, which may have come from a mega-rare vinyl release. But, I don't know how to even download the track without getting some sort of pirate bit-torrent software which I don't want to get. I have a clear conscience about seeking such a track this way because I can't buy it. So is there someone one the list that actually does have a FLAC recording of the Hyde Park performance they can e-mail me. Also while, I'm asking... I thought I had the mega-rare CD of the soundtrack from 'Silent Running' but I found I only have an MP3 recording of the track 'Silent Running' which I might have purchased as a download or I really did have the CD (and since lost it)and it was back in the day when I ripped to MP3 before discovering FLAC. So if anyone has a FLAC for this track... And - no news on hoses yet but I figure in a week's time I will need to chase them. Thanks Daniel -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I caught it at the end of January, visiting an uncle at an acute care rehab place. I had to have a negative test to even get to visit, then I catch it there! I go and get my first vaccine shot here in a bit. Hopefully by next spring things will be back to some sense of normalcy. To that end, I'd like to gauge interest in hosting an OSHIT at my place outside of Austin, TX next April/May. And since this is Texas, we have to do it bigger, with TWO Sprites. Mine, which I actually might complete this year, then my dad's which needs a LOT of work. It has been sitting for 20 years. I'd like to get my dad's running, because a week and a half ago he had a surprise quadruple bypass. He went in for a stress test in preparation for a pinched nerve procedure, which he failed. They set him up for an angioplasty and a stent, then once they started that, they were surprised by the state of his arteries, and immediately got him into surgery for the quad bypass. He's recovered amazingly well, and was released from the hospital yesterday to go to a rehab place for a few days to get his strength built back up, and get used to doing things without his arms until his breastbone heals. I know when we had the last OSHIT at Jim Johnson's, there was discussions about folks wanting to visit Austin. This might be the impetus to do so! Sold it when we sold the house and moved, full time into an RV (Class C later upgraded to a Class A, king bed, big fridge, washer/dryer, electric fireplace and added solar). Midget went with Kevin Valentine, so it stayed in the ?Family?. Loving the mobile lifestyle. Saved our health and sanity over the last year. The old battery was 7 years old on a 5-year guarantee and was less than willing to start my Sprite's engine at the weekend, though did manage it. So, I figured it was time to fit a new one. I noticed the clamps are scruffy and I thought I'd like to replace them with something similar in stainless steel (I'm assuming they would be strong enough not to fail in tension). The clamps may or may not be the original 1969 ones but are about 4.5 inches end to end (could be shortened slightly) and 5/16 UNCoarse thread. Ebay and google reveal that this side of the pond you only get what I want in Metric thread and I try not to have anything metric on the car if I can help it. So has anyone bought something similar in 5/16 stainless for their Sprite/Midget and wouldn't mind buying a couple more and posting them to me (I can pay by paypal?) Alternatively any views on how easy it would be to heat and bend stainless rod/bar with a soldering blow lamp (because that's all I have!)? I have threaded stainless rod/bar before but only in a smaller diameter when I made handbrake rods so figure I manage it with a single die (new and of good quality). I had it built custom, and it was not cheap (don't recall how much, but my wife groaned when I told her).? I was attempting to add on a Judson Supercharger, and thought I'd need additional cooling capacity.? I never could get the engine to run right with the Judson so I took it off.? I have to say the aluminum radiator keeps everything running cool, so I won't be swapping back, but everything I've read says a copper (original material) core is the most efficient.? If your car used to run cool, and just started having problems keeping up, you might just take the radiator to a good old fashioned radiator shop and have it disassembled, rodded out and flushed good.? I was having cooling issues on my BJ8, and took my radiator to a shop and asked if they could refit it with a higher capacity core.? He looked at it and said, "This is a high capacity core, but it is clogged up."? after he cleaned it out, it has been handling high temperature days, etc. just fine.?? Of course the disassembly and cleaning may cost nearly the same as one of the Chinese aluminum radiators. I was told a re-core of my original radiator would cost $3-400. The reason is the price of copper and the availability of materials due to the pandemic halting production. This is assuming I have a modern type core put in. The straight horizontal fin cores are available, but they are used in industrial applications like fork lifts and farm equipment. He was honest enough to say even the Chinese radiator would probably work better than my 20+ year old radiator re-core with horizontal straight fins if the Chinese radiator had a modern type core in it. He also said any radiator that cheap ($170) can only be manufactured outside of the US. He also said the cooling efficiency was not that different between copper and aluminum. So, now I really don't know which way to go. I really don't think I need a $600 aluminum radiator. I will not be racing this Bugeye. The problem now is my MGB GT is running hot too. Checked timing on both cars. Top radiator hose gets hot, so I really don't think the thermostat is a problem. Crap. In 2013 I bought a Wizard aluminum radiator for my 1275 Bugeye. When it arrived the shroud did not fit. I then interacted with Scott Attig and Tom Dahmer of Wizard. I then sent Tom measurements of modifications that were needed. He then sent me their modified drawing and 3D model for my review before going into production. The revised shroud worked perfectly. Tom also worked with me when the pet cock wouldn?t seal properly. I believe I must have been the first Bugeye customer for them. I sure couldn?t have done this with some overseas manufacturers. It was pricy, $499.00 back then, but has worked great I am a satisfied customer. While I was at it, I installed an electric cooling fan with a thermostat. RE for Bugsy. As always, the list members are one of the best things about being a Spridget owner. A lister within driving distance of Davis has kindly offered one, and I?ll have an excuse for a small road trip. Pretty much my biggest excursion in the last year. Thanks again and best to all. Now I have to pop the 3.9 out of the Sprite today to finish the swap. Hope the 3.9 isn?t pants or the Morris pickup will be down for a bit. Fingers crossed. I'm fairly certain that you will be quicker than I, so I will assume you are going to pick it up: 4700 Quad court, Fair Oaks. Right near the cemetery. Directions available if you're not using GPS. I work 6 to 2 Sunday through Thursday, so anytime after about 2:30 would be okay (but tomorrow I have an appointment after work.) Either Friday or Saturday anytime should be good, but I might have an electrician helping me do some work here. We haven't scheduled it yet but I would like to be available when she knows her schedule. I hope to know that by tomorrow evening. Tell me about the hard top: what does it need? is all the hardware there? is it something that I can pay someone to do? I would love to have one, but I don't need something that will still be unfinished when I go.... My cell number is (916) 834-3764. Text is best but if I have your number in the phone I will answer it if I hear it. I also check my email several times a day so that's always good.
