Actually the hoses are for you because I still have the original hoses on my Sprite. I used stainless steel Jubilee brand (the original) worm drive hose clips. Jubilee are a British company and make their hoses in Britain - their website is worth a look. There a number of e-bay vendors that will sell you their stainless steel clips. I've also asked Samco what colours they have in stock at present in case anyone wants a british racing green or lime green hose, rather than blue or black. Once I've heard from them and have some prices I'll update the list. Regards Daniel -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I have a 1960 Bugeye Sprite of which went into temporary storage when it arrived last year, sold to me as stored in a barn for 40 years from a member. (Moss Motors) to carry on the tradition of supplying car parts and accessories for British car owners around the world. President of Victoria British, Becky Hanrahan said, "It was not a decision that we made lightly. We were Victoria British before we were LMC Truck, but we know we have not been giving the British market the attention it deserves. We feel our customers would be better served by a company whose primary focus is the British car market." Victoria British has for many years been a key resource for British sports car owners and their mission to ?Keep?em On The Road ??. The Moss Motors acquisition of Victoria British is aimed at maintaining the same spirit of supporting the British sports car industry and community. "As a long-standing name in the British sports car community, we recognize the rich history of Victoria British and will do our best to carry on their legacy.?, said Ed Moss, President, Moss Motors. ?It?s an exciting chapter for Moss Motors and we look forward to bringing together the best traditions of both companies to continue serving the industry by supporting car owners, restoration businesses and British sports car enthusiasts alike." In the coming weeks, both companies will be posting news and reaching out to customers, suppliers, and other contacts regarding the details of the transition. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I was in my late twenties and getting used to a Weber DCOE on my Sprite for the first time. I'd been supplied (as it turned out) standard jetting for a modified engine with a K&N and began increasing jet sizes before I even took it to the rolling road (chassis dyno). I was living in Sussex and in nearby Brighton there was a specialist carburettor and other stuff job. I entered the shop/store and was met by an attractive (older than me) woman, with long hair. She smiled and asked if could speak to someone who knew about Weber DCOE carbs. She stopped smiling and told me 'I know about Weber DCOE carbs'. I thought - yeah right!. Well as it turned out she really knew her stuff, a lot more than the young ME and was also the first person I heard correctly pronounce David Vizard's name (he himself turned out to the second person I heard pronounce it correctly). Lesson learned, don't judge a book by its (pretty and female) cover. They invited me to drop by which I guess means they have David's and my tooling (vertical flow and cross flow) but have forgotten what they look like or the numbers for them. So, this week is busy but next week I should be able to drop by and talk hoses (Unless it rains all week - I'll be walking). I need to know if you need a vertical hose or a crossflow top hose or crossflow water pump hose, also a 90 degree elbow, and not least the heater ? hose. You can let me know colour preferences: blue or black or something else. I'll then have an idea of quantities to discuss with them. I don't prices will be much more than a few years ago for hoses but I think postage prices have jumped up a couple of times. David gets a small commission on his hoses to cover his initial costs and I get a little on mine. I did hit the 100 hose break-even figure for my tooling costs but paid for my own hoses!. For anyone that wants the by-pass outlet delete on the hose that can be done. Once I have spoken to Samco and then checked hose weights (approx) I'll get postage prices and I'll update my order forms. Manufacturing times vary with Samco but even if they are quick this time, I'd be loathe to post hoses just before Christmas and New Year. Vicky Brit turned into a second rate operation years ago. There was absolutely no one there who was dedicated to the LBC business once Long Motors bought them. I pretty much use British Parts Northwest. They have less inventory but the prices are great, as I assume they buy excess inventory or asset liquidations of shops. I used them exclusively when I restored my first car 28(!) years ago, a Spitfire. At the time the sole proprietor was Greg, and now his son Layton pretty much runs it with a few other staff. They are good people, and Greg started the biz to support his SCCA racing habit 40 years ago. Of course, while he?s not buying anymore stuff as far as I know, Peter C at World Wide is the best. Check the eBay store. The parts he has are typically NOS or old school aftermarket. He is an encyclopedia. The gauges are from SPEEDHUT, .. so you can get the same from there cheaper, BUT not with the faces that look so good. The cast iron water pump.. all you can get is aluminium from anywhere else. I did the conversion to Negative Ground and went with the GENERNATOR and fake regulator. The Genernator burned out it's diodes in less than 100 miles but bugyeyeguy made good and I got a replacement. Much better that way because returning parts is such a financial drain. The difference between Moss and VB was more than price and selection. When you call Moss, the sales person is somewhat to very knowledgeable about the parts they sell. When you call Victoria British this is not the case. Sales personnel there only know part numbers. They can only tell you if the part you want is in inventory or not. Most of the time the VB sales person knows nothing about British cars. I'm guessing the best we get out of this aquisition is added inventory of parts that Moss did not sell before, at least until they run out. VB prices are gone. That being said, I have been buying a lot from Ahead4Healeys and AH Spares lately. Actually better prices than Moss. Moss shipping has gotten slower taking up to 4-5 days to be delivered using their Saver Fare. I seem to remember, if you ordered your parts before 3PM you got them the next day. I have received parts from Ahead4healeys in 3 days in the recent past all the way from England. Go figure. No dog in this fight, just a personal observation. > Mike MacLean > > Sent from AT&T Yahoo Mail on Android > > On Sun, Nov 22, 2020 at 7:55 AM, Rick Fisk via Spridgets > wrote: > And Moss has parts that VB didn't.
