Sometimes you can save yourself three shipping charges by getting the right part the first time if, as has happened for me with Moss, you can ask the sales guy to go out and take a look at the item in question. Sort of like the difference between dealing with a "tech support" person who is reading off a screen vs one who understands the technology involved and speaks intelligible English. Of course, Jeff Zorn at LBCarCo offers the good English in combination with minimal understanding of the product, but enhances it with a discount off the Moss pricing. Not to mention the shortbread cookies, etc, that accompany the shipment. David -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Our dear friend Frank Clarici rebuilt mine in 2006 when I bought her from a guy in California via eBay. Part of me doesn't want to tackle it as I would hate to make any changes he wouldn't approve of but I think this link will help. It appears to be stuck in high rev but I'm sure she could use a thorough cleaning. I would like to find an exploded view for the older carbs on the early 1960 Sprite as I will have to do a complete rebuild of that one and I have a spare to learn on. https://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/how_to_repair_su_carburettor Has anyone used this link? I'm going to make a big print/plot of the exploded view for my classroom as we will be creating exploded views soon and for the small handful of kids coming to the classroom they need to see something motivating. I have a 1959 Bugeye with a 1275 engine that had up until last month been sitting dormant in my basement garage. I have the car back on the road and running fairly well, but I am dealing with an idle issue. The card starts fine and will idle fine after it warms up; however, when coming to a stop, the idle drops to a point where the engine will stall if I don't give it a little gas. After it catches back up, the car will go back to idling fine. Right now I have the idle set at about 1,000 rpms. The plugs on the car look good, so I think the mixture is fine. I have played with the timing a little as well. Any suggestions as to where else to look? It did seem to reduce the vacuum leak somewhat, but did not eliminate it completely. My next step is to disassemble and replace the gasket. Is there any recommendation for a particular gasket? Can (or should) any type of gasket dressing or sealant be applied to the manifold gasket?
