Weld a seat back cross bar in the seat frame with grade 8 bolts for mount studs to attach to a later fabricated seat back to body brace.? Recover the seat... At every turn something somewhere just did not fit or in theory was spot on...until I tried to put it in its intended spot!? ?Why is the left front shock mount pad area wet with oil and lots of dusty fuzzy stuff glued to it?? It did not leak before....? I assume it is the shaft seal..stick my finger under the shock lever shaft and it's dry!? ?I have pictures!? Oil is coming up out one of the shock to body mount bolts and running down the shock onto the frame....go figure!? ?Ok prepare another shock... the swap is going to be done next week.? ?The water temperature gauge does not work.? Tested sending unit ( matched to this gauge) and it works!? ?Tested the gauge...it works!? A new wire for the sending unit and turn on ignition and the gauge needle drops as far as it could go!? Wired BACKWARDS?? No...right?? So let's play experiment!? I swap power and ground and...turn on ignition switch and the needle comes up ever so slightly !? ?Yeah , ok , what ever...warmed up the engine and needle comes up!? Way cool...right?? ?WRONG!? using my infrared thermometer at the sending unit...the gauge is reading about 30? too cold!? ?So I still have no temperature gauge.? ?Electric cooling fan is manually switched on the dash right now because I do not have the thermal switch to make it work automatically right now.? ?And on and on!? ?I installed longer studs for the front wheels .? 1/4" spacers and no problems...right!? ?I did the left side first all good , do the right side and put it together and the studs bottomed out in the lug nuts well begore making contact with the rim!? They're known to sell common and exotic animals ? dead or alive ? for human consumption. Many in developing countries rely on these markets as a key source of livelihood. But yesterday, the UN's biodiversity chief reportedly called for a global ban on them. That's because some experts think the novel coronavirus first appeared in a wet market in Wuhan, China ? when the virus may have crossed from animals to humans. It wouldn't be the first time: the 2002-2003 SARS epidemic was traced to a wet market in China, as was the 2013 bird flu. Now, officials around the world ? including US politicians ? are calling for a crackdown on these markets to help prevent future pandemics. In February, China issued a ban on wildlife markets. But some worry the ban doesn't go far enough, since it still allows these animals to be traded for medicinal purposes. Already, some wet markets have reportedly reopened in China. It's raising concerns that we're witnessing another failed attempt to take action before it's too late. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I have been managing the mailing lists on autox.team.net since then, actually for a while before that.? I took over? from Jim Muller, who took over from Dale Cook, and I wish I had archives of those first few years.? Actually I may have some in my office, on 1/4 inch tape cassettes.? Every now and then I consider trying to revive some of the old HP-UX boxes I have to see if I can still read any of those tapes.? Maybe someday. Anyway, in the beginning I was routing everything through the servers at the University of Utah Computer Science Department, where I was employed.? When my fellow sys admins started noticing just how much network traffic there was on a certain box, my boss strongly suggested I make other arrangements.? So I went about getting a network connection at home.? Back then, it was not that easy, or cheap.? And as I recall, the first dedicated Team Net server was an HP box with one of the first 100+ megahertz CPUs, and even with a deal through HP, who worked closely with the U in those days the system set me back about $2,500.? Hardware has improved since then.? And that money didn't all come out of my pocket, I initiated a fund drive among the list members and got a great response.? Back then it was all checks in the mail, and I mailed a thank you postcard to every contributor, or at least most of them, no doubt I missed a few.? And for some time there was an annual fund drive to cover the rather high cost of having sufficient bandwidth from my house. So here it is 29 and just everybody has fast network available to them.?? I dropped the fund drives some years back, though folks do continue to contribute to the cause.? Now a few clicks in Paypal can take care of it, though some still prefer to send checks. Yep, things are different now.? And with the Covid-19 pandemic, a LOT different.? But the Team Net mailing lists are still chugging along, providing those spending more time at home a bit of distraction, entertainment or education as we keep our beloved vehicles rolling along the roads. I plan to keep it going as long as I can, who knows how many years I have left.? April 11th is also my birthday, 66 this year, and I certainly won't live forever.? And I fear that when I die, Team Net will die.? Sigh. But for now, enjoy and stay healthy. mjb. As many of you know, the domain team.net was officially registered on April 11, 1991, by the late Bill Caloccia. I have been managing the mailing lists on autox.team.net since then, actually for a while before that. I took over from Jim Muller, who took over from Dale Cook, and I wish I had archives of those first few years. Actually I may have some in my office, on 1/4 inch tape cassettes. Every now and then I consider trying to revive some of the old HP-UX boxes I have to see if I can still read any of those tapes. Maybe someday. Anyway, in the beginning I was routing everything through the servers at the University of Utah Computer Science Department, where I was employed. When my fellow sys admins started noticing just how much network traffic there was on a certain box, my boss strongly suggested I make other arrangements. So I went about getting a network connection at home. Back then, it was not that easy, or cheap. And as I recall, the first dedicated Team Net server was an HP box with one of the first 100+ megahertz CPUs, and even with a deal through HP, who worked closely with the U in those days the system set me back about $2,500. Hardware has improved since then. And that money didn't all come out of my pocket, I initiated a fund drive among the list members and got a great response. Back then it was all checks in the mail, and I mailed a thank you postcard to every contributor, or at least most of them, no doubt I missed a few. And for some time there was an annual fund drive to cover the rather high cost of having sufficient bandwidth from my house. So here it is 29 and just everybody has fast network available to them. I dropped the fund drives some years back, though folks do continue to contribute to the cause. Now a few clicks in Paypal can take care of it, though some still prefer to send checks. Yep, things are different now. And with the Covid-19 pandemic, a LOT different. But the Team Net mailing lists are still chugging along, providing those spending more time at home a bit of distraction, entertainment or education as we keep our beloved vehicles rolling along the roads. I plan to keep it going as long as I can, who knows how many years I have left. April 11th is also my birthday, 66 this year, and I certainly won't live forever. And I fear that when I die, Team Net will die. Sigh. But for now, enjoy and stay healthy. mjb. ------------------------ spridgets at autox.team.net Donate: http://www.team.net/donate.html /> Suggested annual donation: $12.75 Archive: Unsubscribe/Manage: Links: ------ [1] http://www.team.net/pipermail/spridgets -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Holding it all the way down will keep fluid from flowing because the piston is in the way of the hole in the master cylinder that supplies fluid from the reservoir to the bore. This works on most master cylinders, but not all..... I hope this helps you. Kevin V. I am trying to decide if I can just put heavier duty springs on the axles I have to increase the weight carrying capacity. The axles are on the high side of the lower weight range and are thus larger in diameter. The manufacturer is no longer in the business of personal trailer axles. The new place wants me to give them data from a data plate which these axles do not have. Any thoughts? The axle itself could be the limiting factor, it could be the axle bearings, could even be the tires. If the trailer has brakes they could be the limiting factor. Could also be the structure of the trailer. All of these things have to be considered. So my is is I dunno. I am assuming you want to carry your Sprite; the trailer is 20 ft or less. Then the trailer weighs about 2,000 lbs or more. If you are carrying you Sprite with a few other items that is about another 2,000 lbs. So to have a safety margin the axel assembly including the springs should have a rating of 6,000 lbs Also you should be using trailer tires not automotive tires. I always figured my car was worth more to me and would cost more to fix than a trailer. The photos below was my first trailer which was 14 ft in length and I bought it used. The prior owner had made modifications to the interior and some additional storage compartments like an almost full width diamond plate SS compartment about 12 inches deep and 14 inches wide so I think the trailer dry weight was more like 3,000 lbs. This accident was the result on one wheel falling into a large chuck hole hidden by tall grass. I actually want to tow two cars stacked but the stacker takes another 1400 lbs so even with two small and light vehicles I go over spec. I could opt for all new higher rated axles but that doesn?t make financial sense. Adding higher rated springs, just 200 lbs more per spring would seem to be the way to go but I REALLY hate being on the side of the road 600 miles from home. My son is working for the next few days but I'll pass on the advice. The switch that was in the car was bad. The plunger is rusted in place. We pulled a switch from the parts car but the meter readings were not what we expected and were not consistent. Probably time for a new switch. The parking lights in the tail light assembly, license plate lights, and side markers are working, so I don't think it's a grounding issue, but will definitely double check. The dual filament bulbs are new. We also don't have turn signals. We'll get back to it once he has another break in his work schedule. Like you suspect, someone tried to close the lid without releasing the lid support. I have fixed this issue on two Midgets with this procedure - open the latch, stand on the left side of the car and raise the lid a few inches with your right hand. Hold the lid open with your right hand and with the palm of your left hand push down on the lid sharply right at the left hinge location. Do this a few times and you can get the hinge to bend back to the proper shape. Shortly after that I moved and now am at 5,500 ft and the car will not start except with the use of starter helper. Needless to say the car has not been drive more than one or two trips to the gas station in the past six years. So I finally decided that I needed to check the carb settings, the Ignition, valves, timing have all been checked and set. Mount the needles just like the fixed needles with the shoulder flush with the bottom of the piston and tune away, just like with the fixed needles. The spring loaded needles make it less critical to get the jet centered exactly right. The plastic floats are tougher to get adjusted correctly, but it can be done by shimming the float needle seat.
