If I were able , not only would I be all in to mentor but instruct as well.?? ??I'm still working on Frank's race car project.It's not ready to get on track.?? ??But!?? ??I've worked as an instructor at Pocono for 2 years for?? SCCA PDX events.?? Also ive been very detail oriented in car construction and preperation and presentation for tech inspection.?? ??Any questions??? Objective: To make new
drivers attending VSCDA Driver School feel welcomed into VSCDA and our SMRS group
by assisting them through the driver school process with the goal of making
it?? an easier less overwhelming
experience for them.

Some of the responsibilities would be:

Please let Stan Mason or other representative
know you are willing to assist drivers with Driver School support.?? I will assign you to one of the students.

Introduce yourself and welcome them to VSCDA and
SMRS

Review their safety check off list with them prior
to Tech Inspection and offer help in filling out sheet.

After each session check oil, water, tire
pressure and wheel nut torque (if they do not have these tools please offer to
use yours).

Provide any advice they may ask about.?? Safety is the most important criteria of the
day and make sure they understand the importance.?? If you are not able to answer their question
please ask others to assist.

I am copying our ???Jim Donato Most Respected
Driver Award??? criteria, which I think conveys what we want from new drivers, after
all these are the drivers that you will be going wheel to wheel with in the
future and making sure they understand the importance of safety is all in our
best interest.

Predictable / Trusted (uses mirrors, points
faster cars by, passes safely and allows others room to pass and is always a
defensive driver over competition, stays on racing line except when car
failures would leave fluids on track)

Objective (listens to others and approaches
concerned drivers with openness.?? Can sit
down with any driver and feel comfortable that he did the right thing when on
the track)

o????
Observant (looks forward to observe incidents
and flag stations, inspects car between sessions for safety to avoid causing
accidents to others on track.)

Respectful (Avoids Red Mist, which is identified
as an emotional win at all costs attitude and maintains Vintage Spirit Philosophy)

Most of the time these School Driver???s will have
friends assisting them.?? Be courteous to
them and explain you are there to assist them in any way that you can and ask
if they have any questions.

There are normally mechanical issues that are
required, please offer your advice.?? We
usually will have others SMRS racers that have parts available to successfully get
them through the next session.

At the end of the Student Race join them for
graduation and make them proud of their accomplishment.

Invite them to come to future VSCDA events and
be part of SMRS group.

Make them feel welcome to be part of our group
explaining Lunches, Support (mechanical and emotional), fun on and off the
track.
