Does this happen at full lock; just left or right? Bill in Oregon

Subject: [Spridgets] Steering wheel "locks" while driving

SO out for a drive through some twisty roads and occasionally the steering wheel seems to "lock up" momentarily. I can turn the wheel quickly and harshly to get it to break free but it is a little disconcerting. Really just an extra 1/2" or so rotation gets it to break free.

In the fall I had an idiot shade tree MG expert "fix" my turn signal and high beam switches. They work but I am wondering if that caused this and how to fix it. I don't need the steering wheel lock since I have an ignition kill switch installed in the car but I would prefer not to die.
