I have a lot of balls in the air for this event and I forwarded a request to Kornellis and am awaiting their response.  I would like to meet Randy Canfield as well, but it is not my decission.

Stan Mason and Mike Korneli ought to be able to figure this out. It would be a fantastic draw for people to meet and greet Randy Canfield. I acquired a Randy Canfield engine this past year. Can hardly wait to get it together and run it.

For the Kastner Cup at Blackhawk, the event chairs (Porasik and me) paid for Kas and Peg to come out. Total for gas from California, hotels and meals was like $800, or about 2 entries. We also paid for the group's canopy and comp'd the organizers. As those who actually invest in their businesses tend to learn, the increase in entries (and repeats this year from the great experience) more than paid for any additional expenses.

Stan and all, 

I just got off the phone with Rick Haynes.  Rick as you know can be a bit prickly but he's a true Midget guy through and through.  Anyway, Rick thinks that he can persuade Randy Canfield to come the the ELVF.  If you're not aware, Randy is a multi-time HP national champion and has won more races in a Sprite than anyone else in the US and probably the world - no exaggeration!.  He started as a factory team driver at Sebring in or around 1960.  Randy quit racing a few years ago after a pretty severe shunt, and he is not in great health anymore.

Rick thinks he can talk Randy into flying into Milwaukee where Rick will pick him up and bring him to the track.  Rick also thinks that Randy should be provided a pass and a golf cart. (and I think a motel room and dinner)  Perhaps Randy could drive the pace car or at least ride in it.

I think this possibility (only a possibility because Randy will have to be invited and then hopefully Rick can persuade hime to come) brings so very much credibility to the event and anniversary that it takes the whole thing to a new level.  If he accepts and the word can get out soon enough I'm sure he'd be worth a few more entries.

Where else can such a man be recognized for what he has done?

This is not mine to choose so I throw it out to you all.
