Hello,

  I believe (belief does not make it true, but still) that reason for
  the front rear bias is because the car is naturally "tail happy".
  The difference in pressure is to help keep the car in balance and
  not have the tail hang out. ...

  Interestingly, the Corvair also had a front/rear pressure
  differential for the same reason. It's evil handling reputation came
  from people who did not heed the manufacturer's recommendation.
