Congratulations Larry,
Yes check out camp ground hosting as I was a National Park Ranger in
Yosemite (CA), Sequoia (CA) and Shenandoah VA) national parks in my
previous life and the camp ground hosts are usually retired couples with
RV's and bring in great experience for new campers. The beauty is, the site
is free and there is no age limit.
Also:
Check out the Traverse City MI area camp grounds *http://tinyurl.com/ydgu8h38

Great camping on the beach of Lake Michigan, at Grand Haven State Park
(call ahead), I've camped and saw the light house out my tent window it was
my favorite.

There is an RV campground on the beach in San Diego but I forgot the
location it too is overlooking water.
Happy Retirement, safe travels.
