[Spridgets] Distributor confusion!

Greetings everyone,I'm currently about to start a freshly rebuilt1293.Got the dizzy drive spindle in, with large side uppermost amd the split pointing to ~2 - 7 o'clock as per the factory manual. My 25d distributor cap has the wires still from before the rebuild, which I even labelled 1,3,4,2 ( unusually organised for me!).Problem is, I have the engine at TDC with #4's valves just in their overlap period..i.e. Firing #1 cylinder. However my rotor is pointing to #3!To get it near #1 , I'd have to turn the distributor round so the vacuum diaphragm would be at the bottom , its connector pointing to the firewall!I went to great trouble to time the cam... degree wheel, dial indicator etc, and I'm confident it's within 1•.I'm also sure I did it right last time around.
Can anyone confirm for me please, with the engine at TDC for firing #1, should the rotor point to roughly 1-2 o'clock.
On your 25d cap, are the wires for #1 & #3 either side of the arch shaped recess for the low tension wire?
It seems I am about 90• out on the distributor leads..  which suggests that I must have got the spindle wrong last time and shifted the leads to compensate... I find that very difficultto believe..but I suppose it's possible.
Maybe someone smarter or than I can deduce my mistakes or confirm my stupidity, but some suggested fixes would be appreciated.
Thanks all, and best wishes for a safe and happy Christmas to everybody. It's 32•C here (90•F) ... good Sprite weather!
