I guess it could be worse. Could be midget porn.

</div>This is a long story. . . get a cup of coffee before reading this. This is somewhat Spridget related.

The story of How Ron Soave got sent to jail.

Before I retired, I worked at at a university. (yes, I relocated after retiring & I'm in recovery). However, I kept my e-mail address from the U. Back then the U "rolled their own" e-mail system, but over time they adopted Google's G-Mail like "everyone" else. I guess that's a partnership where Google does the heavy lifting, but the U is still heavily involved in day to day situations. For instance, last Friday a U Gmail subscriber reported to the IT dept that they were receiving abusive mail from a third party. IT responded by redirecting the victim's e-mail to an officer of the law at the police department. To do that they had to write a bit of code - you know, that stuff that's just full of punctuation marks and other unreadable (by a human being) stuff. If you mess up one little comma bad things can happen. Well, in this case, something bad did happen. Instead of the victim's e-mail going to the police, everyone with a U e-mail address had their incoming e-mail sent to the police - overnight Friday into early Saturday morning.

Hang on, here comes the Spridget content.

That would be about the time frame when Ron was sending out his e-mail with the subject heading of "PORN". Yup, Ron sent porn to a cop! You're going to jail!

I though about how this might unfold. Imagine Ron in jail and the Big Inmate in Charge says to Ron, (and remember that Ron's from the Chicago area). "How many people did you shoot, Soave? Ron says, "I didn't shoot anyone." Well then, how many gas stations did you rob? Ron says, "I didn't rob any stations." "What are you in here for then, Soave?" "I send SPRIDGET PORN to a cop." You gotta think that of all the reasons for going to jail that this reason won't set you very high in the pecking order of jail life. It's like Alice's Restaurant all over again. Guilty of having 8 x 10 black & white, glossy, Spridget porn.

Back to the story. When IT found out about the "goof" they immediately wrote another piece of code (good luck with that) that froze the cop's e-mail so he couldn't read it. At least that's the theory. They then tried to sort everything out from there.

Not everyone you meet can tell you that they have sent porn e-mail to a cop, but you now might know of at least one person who may have done exactly that!

Let us know how it all works out, Ron. Or, should I say, Inmate #998-1098-1275.
