[Spridgets] Bonnet locating pins

We had an awful time getting the bonnet locating pins in the tiny holes 
on the hinges, even with four people,  but they finally dropped in.  Now 
one side of the bonnet is too far forward, and it feels like the pins 
are preventing the necessary adjustment.  I don't remember if it was 
that way before.  I suspect that a lot of bonnets have long since lost 
those pins to bending, anyway.

Any thoughts on the value of those pins for a well-aged bonnet?
