[Spridgets] Fwd: I've gone to the Dark Side-

My Nissan Frontier was built about ten miles up the road from here with parts sourced from at least the States and Japan. The BGT is certainly all British, and I'm pretty sure all the parts of my '94 Harley are American (wait a minute, which carb do I have...)  The Honda and Suzuki ATV's are both '02 models, pretty sure they brought them over pre-assembled in crates except maybe for the handle bars and rear wheels. Also, back in the eighties, I bought a new Mercury wagon that was built in Mexico, yet based on Japanese (Mazda) parts...

The Harley has CHINESE parts on it. Ask me how I know... (Failing saddlebag fasteners...)

My 2012 Accord is built in Ohio with American and Japanese parts, but everyone still calls it a Japanese car. My 2000 F 150 is made in America, but the engine is built in Canada and I found "Made in Mexico" on the rear leaf springs. That's called an American truck.  Now I have been told my Harley Davidson has Japanese parts on it.  I hope not.  The only pure design I have is my Bugeye and my BN2.  Conceived, built and parts sourced from one country.  That's why you can say, "they don't make 'em like that anymore."Mike MacLean

So I have a an "American" car (Jaguar - owned by Ford at the time) made in England, I still think its British, as is my Japanese car (Honda SiR) made in England (where my MGB body came from).  Who gives a 'flying puck'? (note CDN reference to keep tone civil).  But to be honest, not all Minis come from Blighty, the ones on steroids are made in Austria.
And as for 'American cars', many are now made in Mexico, or Canaada, does that devalue the "Detroit dinosaur" worse than it already is?

There really is no 'dark side' only 'butter side down', its all toast - really.

 Cheers,
 Martyn
