ORIGINAL SPEC. GALVANISED FUEL TANKS FOR CLASSIC BRITISH CARS NOW AVAILABLE
FROM BRITISH MOTOR HERITAGE
02/03/12 from British Motor Heritage
Galvanised fuel tanks are now available from British Motor Heritage (BMH)
dealers for most Minis, Morris Minor 1000s, MGBs, MG Midgets and Triumph
Spitfires, and further additions to the range are planned for later this
year.

The new tanks are made to the original specification (including baffles
where appropriate) on the original press tools, jigs and roller welder. It
is the recent major refurbishment of the latter - the machine that creates
the all-important seal for the main body of the tank - that has allowed BMH
to make the milestone move from un-plated steel to the infinitely more
corrosion-resistant galvanised stock for these replacement items.

Lack of corrosion resistance is the Achilles heel of most classic car fuel
tanks, and a particular headache with MGB ones, which tend to rust from the
top down due to the water trap between the tank and boot floor. The use of
galvanised steel eliminates such problems entirely and is therefore a major
product improvement.

BMH also manufactures a competition fuel tank for the MGB that is both
baffled and foam filled.

The full range of tanks currently in production is:
