What needles are you being used? There are tables that give the diameter of
the usual needles at points along its shaft. ...bill

Subject: [Spridgets] Racer types, Carb help please!
Hi all,
so I have this little problem with the carbs and I ask your help, but first
a
little history..
I purchased this 1380 go fast engine about 2 (?) years ago. Freshly built
with
the carbs mounted. I have never gotten around to tuning everything until
recently, hat means this morning. Messed with the timing a bit and tried to
adjust the carbs. I can not get them to idle slowly, hmm.. they idle at
3000
revs. These are later carbs for a 1275 that have been warmed over a lot I'm
guessing.
And here is my question: Could someone have filed or otherwise altered the
needles so much that no matter what I do the carbs could pull enough fuel by
to idle at 3000 revs. I have already noted that the "piston" at the end of
the oil reservoir (the one that comes out when you check the carb oil level)
was removed and the rod ground to a point, I have retrofitted stock ones and
I
can imagine no other scenario that would allow the high rev at idle.
Yes, I have disconnected each carb from the common shaft
Yes, I have backed out the idle speed screws all the way out
Yes, I have confirmed that the choke is not holding the jets open
Any ideas oh wizards of the SU?
Lester
