If it had a BMC US license plate, backing plate that might explain the holes 
being closer together than the holes in your license plate.

Look at the 3rd picture down on this page. It shows the factory U.S. backing 
plate.

Subject: [Spridgets] Before I start fabricating

a license plate holder for my Bugeye, it would seem I'm missing a part since
no license plate I've ever seen except maybe a motorcycle plate would fit
those holes on the back.  What am I missing?
