Pull the spark plugs and see if it turns over. My guess is that it has a
blown head gasket and one cylinder is full of water. - Jim

Subject: [Spridgets] Jammed 1500 engine

OK, I've got another problem I can't figure out. 1979 Midget 1500. Was in
the shopping center parking lot, went to start it and the engine seemed to
turn over only about 1/2 a turn and stopped (charging light is on). Battery
is fine. I figured a starter problem so I tried to do a push start. When I
let out the clutch the rear tires just slid, as if the engine was locked.
Bendix jam somehow? I've got a failing fan clutch... if the fan clutch
failed could the fan belt keep the engine from turning over? Should I
remove the belt (fan/alternator) and try to start the car or would that
damage it?

Don
