If you use a debit card you are spending YOUR money.  If you use a credit card you are spending the CREDIT CARD COMPANY's money.  Same thing if someone gets unauthorized access to your card.  Do you want to risk YOUR money or someone else's money?

Years ago someone got my wifes debit card number and drained her bank account.  She hardly used the card and never did figure out how they got it.  The debit card company eventually did put the money back, but it took awhile and they of course have their big paragraph of fine print so YMMV.  I like it a lot better when the charges show up in a statement and we can dispute them before we have to send payment.
