Actually not. Backfiring while running is a classic sign of a fuel supply
problem like a clogged fuel filter because the mixture becomes too lean.
Backfiring while trying to start the engine is usually too much advance.
In this case, if it's bucking and backfiring while driving, it's probably
starving for fuel.
