Things that I have overlooked -- more than once!

If there is 12V on the coil, is there 12V at the distributor with the points open?
Are the points opening and closing?
Is the little wire for the condensor shorting to the case?
Is the rotor in place?
Is the insulating washer under the points fulcrum?
