[Spridgets] No LBC....PC speed

As a previous email has said; a 'ping' is a small packet of data that basically says "Hi" to the target and the target says "Hi" back, The measure is the time this small packet takes to get from you to them and back.

The problem is, that a 'ping' is not a true picture of what the connection can do.

A modern 'packet' of data has seven (yes, 7) layers wrapped around it that contain various information such as origin, destination, protocol, length, error correction, tcp/ip (don't ask!) packet number , etc.

So it is more efficient to send a long data stream than a short data stream.
Not forgetting that each ISP is throttling down the data stream to the level the customer has paid for...

Spent half my life in this crap!

Not only did nobody answer my question, but none of the smart-ass responses
