"It is absolutely a candidate for a good wax & detail, an interior kit, and drive it." Are you seriously saying that you would not fix the fender benders? Especially the front one? If I am paying $10K or more. I expect the Sprite to be somewhat presentable. Bugeyes seem to be very very plentiful to say the least. Definitely no shortage.

I really need to sell the '61 cherry red Bugeye in my garage that I have been sitting on for about eight years. It is looking to be a great investment as it doesn't even need paint - as in no fender benders. It was a San Diego car all of its life. I paid $3K even when I bought it. Has it really tripled in value? Heck it even has its original cylinder head in place along with the factory optional 1 and 1/4 brass top carbs. I need to take neat pictures as it is being removed from my neighbors barn and have someone submit them to BAT so I can get all of the stupid patina comments ;^)).

The first thing that jumped out at me is that this bugeye is wearing it's
original black California plates AND dealer plate frames.... from my
hometown Chico, California. I have a set of "Earls" dealer plate frames I
kept off of a Chico
Bugeye I helped a friend refresh many years ago. I don't have the cash, but
I think that car is worth about $10k as it sits. It is absolutely a
candidate for a good wax & detail, an interior kit, and drive it.

I know a lot of us have been watching the barn find bugeye on eBay that was
featured on Bring A Trailer: http://tinyurl.com/3p6c7wg I'm not knocked
over
dead by this car as some of the commentators on BAT seem to be. $7300 and
the
reserve hasn't been met? If you wanted to do a concours build, it requires
a
complete tear-down and virtually every part is going to need replacement or
refurbishment. If it's as solid as it looks, might be worth a small premium
in
money saved on body repair. I respect the patina of a well maintained
vehicle, but this isn't one of them. It was last registered in 1988, so it
looks like it was used pretty hard for 30 yrs before being put away. Would
anyone really be happy driving this rat around as is and brag about its
patina? Have I been out of the market too long and this car is actually
worth
what it seems to be fetching?

Rick
