P22= fun and cheap.  Cheap also means may jam or be ammo picky, though.

Browning Buck Mark > Ruger MK  Rugers are good, but the Brownings are
much better, IMHO, now that the Rugers prices are way up there with
everything else.  Browning trigger is similar to High Standard Victor
and superior to Ruger, IMHO.

Smith & Wesson 22A is also cheap and pretty good .22 plinker, probably
better quality than the Walther P22, bigger and better for larger
hands.
