Very difficult to say. Does the local bugeye need anything? Is it a driver or show quality? How much work will you do yourself? It is generally cheaper to buy if you are paying someone to do the work.
If you can buy a newer parts car many parts are usable, though many are also slightly different.
Good luck

Subject: [Spridgets] A Bug-eye project??
Hi:
I'm out of digest lurk mode to ask advice after a number of years of Midget
ownership.
I've always wanted a Bug-eye. I've found an older acid dipped body tub,
hood, doors and back axle and pretty much nothing else.
There are no VIN #. There is something inside the door A panel and I can
read AN5 and the rest is illegible.
The dipped body has new surface rust as well as usual rust problems - pin
holes throgh floor and trunk, rust in rear A posts and rear 1/4 panels.
Rockers seem OK.
So here's the question.....Is the MK II Sprite or Mk I Midget a good source
or interior parts for the bug-eye?
I have most mechanical parts I'd need from a 1275 but I would still need
dashboard, gauges and seats. Oh and alloy cockpit trim!!
What else would I need?
Maybe the car would be better used as a candidate for a race car or hot rod?
I suppose that is another question!
Well here is another.... In the long run will it be cheaper for me to buy
the Bug-eye for sale now, locally, at $23,950?
Your thoughts please.
Alan
