[Spridgets] I'm pissed - No LBC

Ron, my insurance company paid slightly less than $10,000 for my surgery to
reattach my Achilles to my heel including all follow-up, etc. The bill,
however, was twice that. The deal the ins. co. negotiates with the networks
is incredible. Now, if you can't afford really good insurance like mine (my
portion of the bill was a $50 co-pay) you end up paying the total bill out
of pocket -- in this case nearly $20,000 versus my $50. And you know that
if the providers are only getting half of the bill paid by the ins. co.,
they need to jack the prices up for the rest to make up for it. If you
can't afford the insurance, how in the hell are you going to pay the bill?
You can't; you will lose everything over a damn doctor bill. We need
national health care so the less well-off aren't constantly teetering on the
edge of disaster over this.
Rant over.

Just got a bill for a 1 hour visit to an immediate care facility for
diverticulitis. $4500. I questioned everything they did at the time and
asked for cost (they had no idea) and they wondered why. This country is
broken.
That is all.
