Mark,

As one who is partially on the darkside....:-)
I have a 2006 GT convertible, oonly 300hp, regular gas,
but has surprised many cars that should be faster.
LOVE it!. Pretty fast, for me, very fast to others, heheheh
Wish it had more HP, Bugeye ate up money for a blower upgrade. :-)
Comfortable, handles very well, it ain't a Miata or Spridget...but they can't
run 13 sec 1/4's
or do smoky burnouts with 4 people in em either. Gives me a BIG grin! ( such a
hoon sometimes)
Gets 25mpg hwy
My Aunt, whose former Bugeye racecar I have, had a 2006 Roush 427R. 435hp.
Definitely significantly faster than mine, and better handling also with the
Roush suspension mods.
Does the car you're looking at have any of the Roush brake or suspension mods
on it?
You'll need better tires on it to get it to stick hard at launch, if they are
presently the
stock Pirellis. Tho they work well as an all around tire, even in the snow.

The 3 valve 4.6 motors have been pretty bulletproof stock, and have proven to
be able to
take quite a bit of boost in stock form also.
I'm sure with a Roush built bottom end, it would be able to take the 510hp
and live a long time.
The Roush/TVS r2300 blowers have been pretty reliable from what I've heard,
and obviously
make great power. They can be further tuned and pulley upgraded to 700hp.
Hey, you'll have 18 months to beat the ever loving snot out of it!!

They're a quite a few good web sites with good forums for these things.
www.s197forum.com
www.bradbarnett.net/mustangs
www.stangnet.com
are a couple.

I think you should definitely go for it!!!!!
The only thing you'll regret is spending more money on your Midget's engine
too!!!

Brian S.
Bugeyeracer finally resto'ed!
